The Maison Méditerranéenne des Métiers de la Mode (MMMM) launches the 7th edition of OPENMYMED PRIZE, a competiton dedicated to young Mediterranean talent. In six years OPENMYMED PRIZE has mentored 71 laureates with an international positioning. The support package for each laureate is estimated to 30.000€. This prize is part of OPENMYMED Festival, a showcase of the missions of the MMMM. The Festival’s guest of honour in 2017 will be the Fashion Designer JACQUEMUS.

Founded in 1988, The Maison Méditerranéenne des Métiers de la Mode (MMMM) was stablished to reveal and support future Mediterranean fashion designers. OPENMYMED PRIZE, created in 2010, provides targeted support for the three fundamental needs of young labels: Brand Strategy, Communication and Trade. 20 laureates (10 young designers from Marseille and its surrounding Region: M MAJOR competition and 10 from the Mediterranean countries: MFP competition) are selected by an international jury of fashion professionals and a vote by the General Public.

The MMMM discovers and supports young fashion designers from France and the Mediterranean basin. The MMMM then trains them to become entrepreneurs and company managers so that they can join the professional network and be accepted. “Our mission is to unite a community of designers around a central theme: the Mediterranean. The program has adjusted the endowment to match the expectations of young fashion entrepreneurs by focusing on the essential positioning tool: Brand Strategy”.

As a partner of the Aix-Marseille University (AMU), the MMMM actively participates in the University’s Degree and Masters one and two Degree courses in Management of Fashion and Textile Metiers. Each year, 80 international students take these courses, which are given by a variety of university lecturers and fashion professionals, to prepare them for becoming future actors in the industry. The IICC Mode private school completes the list of graduate courses with a Degree in Fashion Design and Garment Prototyping.

Marseille is an inspirant city which encourages all forms of creation, and fashion is a good example of this reality. The Maison Méditerranéenne des Métiers de la Mode is the incubator of all these new talents. Deadline for submissions? The next 30 November 2016.
