Japanese fashion designer Yuima Nakazato is Graduated Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts Fashion department master course 2008. His Graduate collection "Wooden dimension" won a several Awards, including ITS#7(International Talent Support Seven) Vertice Award, BVBA32[INNOVATION]Award from Ann Demeulemeester, and Coccodrillo Shoes Award continuous winning for two years. These shoes were selected for Permanent collection for ModeMuseum Anwerp.
Nakazato's work is highly structural and often features natural materials contrasted with new advances in materials technology such as heat reactant colour changing fabric, metal armatures, LEDs and high strength paper. Nakazato has developed what he calls the pop-up system in which elements of his clothing convert from two dimensional plains to three dimensional structures. The designer is noted for his shoes and accessories, and has an association with the Esperanza Institute of Footwear Design and Technique.
His collection A/W 09-10 "Expansion" is about flat paper turns into a three-dimensional form. This is the way of the traditional Japanese paper art known as “ORIGAMI”. All of accessory started out from flat square form. When you wear them, they become three dimensional form. It is inspire from architecture of birds wing. and paying homage to the old people’s imagination of the future, In this accessory collection mixed together with modern technique and materials.
