European Triennial for Contemporary Jewellery

European Triennial for Contemporary Jewellery

29.10.2011 > 15.01.2012

Aesthetic, formal, poetic or controversial, contemporary jewellery has many faces. It reflects the present times.
By working with materials or symbols, by seeking simplicity or abundance of detail, the creators push the boundaries of this perpetually transforming discipline.

Behind the most successful creations, are artists who are constantly searching for perfection and innovation. This year again, the WCC-BF invites you to discover them during the European Triennial for Contemporary Jewellery.

After the United Kingdom in 2002, Spain and Estonia in 2005 and Netherlands and Switzerland in 2008, this time Germany and Portugal are the invited countries of this fourth edition of the triennial. Their artists will compete with a selection of Belgian artists.

Sixty artists, chosen by German, Belgian and Portuguese curators, masters of art or young talents, will gather in the great Halle of the former slaughterhouses of Mons for one of the major events in the field of European contemporary jewellery.

In Tribute to Christian Wuytack

Augmenting the Triennial, the Gallery of the WCC-BF proposes an exhibition dedicated to Christian Wuytack who
passed away in spring 2010 at the age of 60.

Christian Wuytack was a professor at the Enamel department of the "Institut de la parure (Arts et Métiers)" in Brussels.
His works are full of fantasy, playful variations of flowers, faces and geometric patterns, ... that evoke pop art and artists such as Keith Haring.

Sixty of his works will be presented to the public from 29 October 2011 to 15 January 2012.
