DANIEL GONZÁLEZ D.G. CLOTHES PROJECT

Daniel González D.G. CLOTHES PROJECT explores the field of "rebellion through beauty". Beyond the concepts of fashion, trend and trademark, the artist acts on the relationship between the individual’s identity and his outfit as declination of their personality. Thus he creates unique pieces created by mixing clothes, shoes, objects, textiles, accessories and a variety of styles, which speak of the person who wears them in an extremely intimate way.

As in a contemporary fairy tale, each creation tells stories, a kind of democratic consciousness of metropolitan antagonism. They are wearable sculptures that tell of the life of each individual, because made for each one of us. An authentic ready-to-wear interior revolt.

Daniel González D.G. CLOTHES PROJECT was first presented in 2004 at the Play Gallery for Still and Motion Pictures in Berlin with the performance Buy or Die. Subsequent exhibitions include, in 2005 the performance Dolls' Room Flash Art Fair in Bologna, Freak Out and Get It (performance) at the Prague Biennale 2 and Falling in Love Makes Me Stupid \ Ponchos Collection curated by Stefanie Kreuzer, NAK Neuer Aachener Kunstverein, and in 2006 Strip Tradition Aguante Carajo Gringo (performance) at México Arte Contemporáneo, Mexico City and in the exhibition Sono incazzato nero e tutto questo non lo voglio piu, curated by Andrea Lissoni, Viafarini, Milan.
In 2008 the artist presented the project My Clothes (performance\workshop) curated by Silvia Conta within MANIFESTA 7, Trento\Bolzano and the performance In You I Taste God during Pulse Art Fair, Miami.

In 2013 Daniel González D.G. CLOTHES PROJECT was exhibited at Studio La Città (Verona) with the Juliet and the Forbidden Games Shoes collection and at Diana Lowenstein Gallery with the Criminal Aesthetic Fashion collection during the Art Basel Miami Beach art week.

Daniel González D.G. Clothes Project now includes clothes, caps, dresses, bags and shoes, edited in unique piece, to collect and wear.

  Bastardisation Sculpture Shoes Collection

Daniel González D.G. Clothes Project presented the brand-new BASTARDISATION SCULPTURE SHOES COLLECTION at the fifth edition of VENTURA LAMBRATE, during the Milan Design Week, which from 8th till 13th April invaded the streets of the Lambrate creative area.

Distinctive character of the D.G. Clothes Project is the mesh-up of materials, fabrics and styles of all kinds to create collections of unique wearable artworks for daily use as though they are accomplices that allows living the everyday life as an invasion of metropolitan life, as a continuous performance. Feminine sensuality is outright freed for the first time to express its most deep and hidden nuances, usually constraint to contemporary commonly accepted patterns and outfit styles. Plumes, gold leaf, tulle, sequins and natural elements, like moss, are fully allied to exalt the beauty of contemporary women, pleasing only her feelings and personality.

Like an unknown identity card, the sculpture shoes of Daniel González D.G. Clothes Project recount the life of those who wear them and make space for the personal freedom to be oneself in everyday life. As in a contemporary fairy tale, each unique artwork tells stories, a kind of democratic consciousness of metropolitan antagonism. They are wearable sculptures that speak out of the life of each individual, because made for each one of us. An authentic ready-to-wear interior revolt.

Criminal Aesthetic Fashion collection
Diana Lowenstein Gallery, Miami
4th December 2013 – 25th January 2014

Daniel González presented the Criminal Aesthetic Fashion collection at the Diana Lowenstein Gallery in Miami.

When daily gestures are repeated endlessly, aesthetic monotony all around assails you, the dress you wear for the upcoming party is visually trite and your dreams are in the hands of the most trashy commercial product packaging; it's time to get a move on and find crumbs of authenticity.

In a world where ideals have gone down the drain and only dreams can save us, we throw ourselves in a journey outside and inside of us, just like in a movie where the soundtrack reconnects us to special moments of our life.

Only there we behave as a true FASHION CRIMINAL, namely anti-conformist, politically incorrect, a leading figure in contemporary society who clashes against the flattening of emotions.

Juliet & the Forbidden Games Shoes
Studio La Città, Verona
October 11th – 31st, 2013

In the world of women, shoes are an Odyssey strewn with unexpected surprises and encounters. Shoes for passion, shoes for flying, shoes for fighting: everyday imaginary fetishes that interpret the idea of life of those who wear them, the inseparable companions of a journey in search of a better fate.

Daniel González's "Juliet & the Forbidden Games Shoes" collection is part of his D.G. Clothes Project series, where art becomes fashion and where the artist mixes materials, fabrics, and styles of all kinds to create collections of unique items as though they were accomplices in an everyday invasion of metropolitan life. Like an unknown identity card, they recount the life of those who wear them and make space for the personal freedom to be oneself in things both large and small. In "Juliet & the Forbidden Games Shoes", a parallel project to his "Romeo's Balcony", the Argentinean artist aims at bringing attention back to the female protagonist of the famous love story and her objects for seduction.

She is the interpreter of all women in a contemporary way, women who must fight every day to conquer the love of their own Romeo and face up to the challenge of a social life where often you do not count for being a talented woman but because you know how hard to kick in order to get ahead.
